Woo Hoo (with fist pumping visual)! I just received word I passed my personal training certification test! Since I had to wait four weeks for the results, I’m pretty stoked. But in the end, the American Council on Exercise (ACE) thinks I’ve got what it takes to be a fitness leader. Now I can… well, design individual fitness programs, be a smarter writer, offer specific advice on training, and put letters after my name:) Seriously, I do think it was a necessary step in achieving my wellness goals. I love to share fitness and food information. But I also want to make sure I’m passing on sound advice. With so much information out there, it’s easy to follow any plan du jour. I often read articles with headlines screaming Lose 10 pounds in a Week, or 5 Ab Busting Moves. But that may not be the smartest way to healthy living. In fact, there is so much misinformation available, it’s pretty easy to get hurt. Or how about trying to follow the pros. I actually strained my shoulder last year after watching Michael Phelps swim. I thought if I just cranked my arms a little faster…(I knew better, but that missing moderation chromosome flared up again.)

So my little certification, complete with CPR and AED training, is just a checkpoint along my wellness path.
