Dr. lisa hautly
Favorites: a good story, rearranging furniture, plant-based restaurants, kayaking, girls night out, puzzles, grandkids, health research, 70’s music, family group texts, lake days, beach days, river days (I like water).
I finally completed my doctorate in Health Education in 2019, went on sabbatical and liked it so much I stayed. For now I spend my time doing a few of those things from my Someday file. And I write. Mostly personal stories and wellbeing articles. It’s put me in a good place to explore and create. I’ve made bath salts, traveled (remember that?), rebooted my strength training, kayaked new waters, read fiction for a very pleasant change, and made personal time for important people in my life.
A few wellbeing points I hold true:
Wellbeing occurs at the intersection of physical, mental, social, intellectual, and spiritual health.
There’s no mystery to healthy, purposeful aging; it’s attainable when our environment and daily habits improve.
Wellbeing occurs on a continuum where our challenges are balanced with the resources to meet them.
Other things: I currently serve my community as a commissioner for the St. Louis County Older Adult Commission, as a board member for Mental Health America of Eastern Missouri, and on the Behavioral Health Network of St. Louis Advisory board. I received the 2015 Healthy Women Award from St. Luke’s Hospital for my commitment to personal and community health. I hold a BA in Public Relations, an MA in Marketing Communications, and completed my doctorate in Health Education in May 2019. My ideal day includes family, sunshine, water, and a paddle.
I've also co-authored Living the Innergized Life: Transforming ordinary moments into extra-ordinary memories. It was my first foray into publishing, but won’t be my last.
